Engineers, scientists, economists and professionals on the subject of water are invited to take part in this forum about the future of water resources. The agenda contains conferences about a sustainable and sound use of our water resources. The special guest of this 5th edition is professor Paul W. Jowitt, teacher in civil engineering and director of The Scottish Institute of Sustainable Technology at the Heriot Watt University.
January 19th & 20th. International Workshop: Torrent floods and in the Mediterranean, which solutions to face the risks?
Arles and Marseille
The Society of Water of Marseille organizes an International workshop about swellings and floods in the Mediterranean. Participants will try to find viable solutions to diminish human and material damages caused by these floods.
Professionals offered solutions to a scientific committee regarding prevention, forecasting and alerting populations as well as rebuilding, assessing the needs and coordinating the help. Groups of professionals will study these propositions during those two days. Then, the results of the workshop will be presented to the members of the United Nations Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitization (HELP/UNSGAB) and during the 6th World Water Forum which will take place in Marseille in March 2012.

January 23rd. National day of information about “Water & Health”:
Convention center of Lyon, France.
The water agency of Rhone-Mediterranean and Corsica in association with the French city of Lyon, organizes a day of information about the theme “Water & Health”. Pesticides, medicine residues, industrial wastes, etc… What are the risks for public health? What is the threat for aquatic environments and water resources?
In the morning, experts and researchers will assess the dangers. The afternoon will be dedicated to presenting concrete actions to handle the rejection of pollutants in water.
Inscriptions are mandatory and opened until January 13th.
